Capt. Shawn has been fly fishing for over 30 years and fishing for 50. He earned his Captains license in 2021 and started Sacred Spear Charters. He is an IGFA World Record holder for chain pickerel on fly with 16lbs. tipet. He has logged thousands of hours on the water since 1997 including freshwater, saltwater, inshore and offshore. A long-time resident of the Delmarva Peninsula, Capt. Shawn has fished all types of water available on Delmarva. This includes the freshwater millponds, tidal rivers and estuaries, inshore, and offshore for marlin, tuna, and sharks.

Capt. Shawn completed his undergraduate studies at theUniversity of Great Falls, Montana where he majored in fly fishing and bird hunting (English & Philosophy). He has fished all the lower 48, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Belize, and Bermuda. His passion is traveling to new places and targeting endemic species on the fly.

Meet Capt. Shawn

Originally from Harford County, MD Shawn lives in Millington, MD on the Chester river where he fishes for northern snakehead, largemouth bass, perch, and stripers. His favorite type of fishing though, is helping people achieve their own goals with a fly rod, especially youth anglers. Whether you want to catch your first saltwater fish on fly, or target a new species, Capt. Shawn can help you achieve that goal.
